ART ST NEWS
ART ST News for January to June 2015
Well 2015 has started with a bang and I am only now coming up for air!
Since the beginning of the year, we reached a couple of milestones: We celebrated our 2nd birthday in March and in April, we achieved 1,000 Facebook “Likes”.
We have also celebrated a couple of major achievements:
- Our traffic signal box which (was a joint collaboration between our artists Catherine Marsh, Anne Armstrong, Patty Gonzalez and I) was awarded “Joint Winner of the Best Organisation” category (along with Yellowhouse) and we made the shortlist for “Overall Winner”. The painting of these boxes is an initiative of Artforce and the Brisbane City Council and intended to beautify our city.
- The number of local Artists belonging to ART ST has reached 20 and we now have a waitlist of people who are interested in joining us.
- People from overseas have found us and we have sold to customers in New Zealand, the United States and Germany. ART ST has gone global!
- Some of our Artists were selected as finalists for the Rotary Art Spectacular - one of Brisbane’s most prestigious art exhibition/competition which is held annually in the foyer of a city (Eagle St) building.
- Some of our Artists have been selected as finalists to enter the Lethbridge 10,000 Art Exhibition – another premier art competition which is held annually in Brisbane.
- ART ST joined Instagram and already has 83 followers.
- Our Artist Angela Wilson won the winner of the People’s Choice Award at Brisbane Institute of Art's Members Exhibition for a gorgeous painting of a sunset over a lake.

Art Exhibitions – see our art
ART ST is planning a group exhibition titled “Brisbane – Hidden in Plain Sight” which will be held at Percolator Gallery, Paddington in October. This is an exhibition of hidden “gems” around Brisbane – interesting or beautiful things that people may pass everyday and not see – images that are unique to Brisbane. Many thanks to sponsors Sumo Print and Design Group for looking after all print requirements for this exhibition.
Currently exhibiting are Anne Armstrong, Brian Isbester, Marianne Grigore and Karen Collins – at Lethbridge Gallery, 136 Latrobe Tce, Paddington, Lethbridge 10,000 Small Scale Art Award. This exhibition runs online from now and in the gallery from 13 to 28 June.
ART ST will also be represented at the Garden City Art Extravaganza 6 to 19 July; the Salford Waters Kingfisher Art Show 7 to 12 July; and Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) Art Exhibition 7 to 16 August.
Lance Boucaut is holding his first solo exhibition at Percolator Gallery, Paddington from 15 to 21 September. “Brissie – Spaces and Faces”. This exhibition will show off Lances brilliant talent for capturing the colour and vibe of cities and personalities.
In January, Marianne Grigore was approached by Cafe Belson, (57 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley) asking if she would be interested in displaying her work in their café and offering it for sale. Her work now proudly hangs and enhances the ambiance of this establishment.
For further details and to see updates of who is exhibiting when, check the Artists Exhibiting page of our website.
