About Brisbane Artist Catherine Marsh (click to expand)
A love of the ocean has always been a passion for me.
I lived in Cairns for 30 years where I was able to work as a professional deckhand on the game fishing boats on the Great Barrier Reef. I explored everywhere on the reef, fishing for marlin and sailfish and snorkelling and diving in some of the most magnificent coral gardens.
I am a self taught artist who endeavours to express myself through painting with different mediums (acrylic paints, pastels and silk paints) to convey my love of the ocean, colour light and patterns.
I am inspired by the constant changing light dancing on the water and the fishlife and birdlife in the wonderful environment in which I live.
Truthfully I am always interested in trying new subject matter and have also painted pet portraits and portraits of people’s family members.
I like my art to provoke happiness, peaceful feelings and bring joy to those who view it in a gallery or in their home.

- 2022: "Living the Dream", Macleay Island Arts Centre. An exhibition of fine art by Catherine Marsh and Pottery by Philippa Gilbert
- 2016-2022: "ART ST @ the ArtSpace", ART ST Group Exhibition, Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital
- 2017: "Country to Coast", ART ST Group Exhibition at Percolator Art Gallery (now Latrobe Art Space), Paddington
- October 2015, "Brisbane - Hidden in Plain Sight" Group ART ST exhibition at Percolator Gallery.
- November 2014, "JOURNEY TO EUROPE", with Grazia Carrara and Karen Collins at Percolator Gallery.
You can also see some of my art on a Brisbane Traffic Signal Box! This box was painted with the help of Karen Collins, Anne Armstrong and Patty Gonzalez and is located at the corner of Brunswick & Arthur Sts, Fortitude Valley.

Living in Nth QLD it was always a welcome delight to find a beautiful cooling stream to swim in, shaded by the tropical foilage, we would spend a few hours sitting under the waterfalls and floating around looking up to see the birds overhead and the little fish below.
